****SAMFS & TELSTRA ASE TRANSPONDER
CHANGEOVER 2010***
(SOUTH AUSTRALIA ONLY)

Please note this applies
to the State of South Australia only.
Presently the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (SAMFS) & Telstra
are upgrading the existing (ASE) transponder units to a new high-speed fire
line service and Telstra Wireless Next G network.
This should prevent open lines "lost carrier" from the fire alarm
system to SAMFS monitoring. This will also provide the SAMFS with greater data
information for transmittal from the fire alarm system to SAMFS as systems progress
and evolve with changing technology in the future.
Presently the existing (ASE) transponder
units are a single point communication system via Voice Grade Dedicated Line
(VGDL) phone line.
The new (ASE) transponder system will be a two point communication system, Firstly
via a dedicated high speed IP fire line, then secondly via the Telstra Next
G Wireless Network if the IP fire line is lost to road works etc.
The SAMFS has advised us that the
cut off date is expected to be at the end of 2010, so we urge all customers
to complete a Telstra application form "see PDF below" as a matter
of priority and forward it to Telstra for processing ASAP, as they will have
thousands of applications to process for FIP fire lines to connect throughout
South Australia.
Once the fire line has been installed (upgraded) for your the building, you
have 60 days to arrange with your fire alarm contractor "Us" to upgrade
the old (ASE) transponder units to the new (ASE) transponder Telstra Next G
wireless units.
For those who would like technical information on the Romteck ASE units please go to their web site at http://www.romteck.com/products/fireSystems.htm
Finally, for those who are wondering what ASE stands for, put simply it is "Alarm Signaling Equipment". Argh!!! More Telecommunication Acronyms!

FIRE & SMOKE DETECTION MAINTENANCE
Fire System Services provides maintenance service for commercial smoke & fire detection systems. In accordance with Australian Standards 1851 section 6, fire alarm systems are required to be inspected on a monthly basis. An annual inspection and test of a percentage of smoke & thermal detectors is also required. This ascertains that the detection and early warning systems are functional.

We have Fire Indicator Log Books available for purchase. These are carbonless copy with logbook reports in the front section for weekly, monthly & yearly tests. The rear section of the book has the detection test records for yearly service or commissioning reports.

Fire System Services is able to supply & install early warning
fire alarm systems in conventional or addressable type panels.

Tested, Approved,
and Preferred
Don't just take our word for it. Simply note that the highly regarded Underwriters
Labs approved Smoke Detector Tester after subjecting the product to a series
of rigorous torture tests. This independent lab not only approve Home Safeguard
products but also use Home Safeguard's Smoke Detector Tester themselves
to test smoke detectors submitted to them for approval. A number of smoke
detector
manufacturers also use the product in their manufacturing process, but
that's not all. We are also the preferred choice of many government agencies,
including
all U.S. Veterans Administration hospitals (and many private hospitals,
as well), Convalescent centers, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission,
U.S.
Embassies and military installations at home and abroad and municipal fire
departments who also recommend the product to owners and managers of multiple-family
dwellings and Fortune 500 companies are among our regular customers.
Institutional Size, Model 25S.
This exciting product designed specifically for supervised systems will tell
you quickly, easily, and economically whether your smoke detectors are working
or not.
UL listed, this product is approved for testing smoke detectors function per NFPA 72 par. 8-2.4.1 when used as directed.
TO USE: From a distance of 2 to 4 ft. (.6-1.2m) aim spray for 1-2 seconds at the vents or side of the detector.
