Fire Projects - Detection Systems
Project: Valima Gardens Retirement Village
Project Date: September 2005
Project Category - Medium Value Up To $200k

Synopsis
Fire Panel: Firenet Addressable.
Field Equipment: Addressable Hochiki detectors, Flashni
Sounders in common areas, Hochiki Squashi Sounders in Rooms, Firenet Mimic
Panel.
System Design
The system was designed for early warning in both residents rooms and common
areas. Due to the age of residents, the client wanted as minimal
duress to the clients in the event of the fire panel in alarm.
The panel was designed, if it detected an alarm in a room it would sound the squashni sounder base in the room alerting or waking the resident as well as notifying the local fire brigade. At the same time it would operate the fire doors and notify staff on the Mimic Panel so they did not have to run to the main Fire Panel.
In the event that a fire was detected in a common area "corridors" all common Flashni will sound along with all sounder bases in the rooms. Thus alerting all to evacuate.
In addition the main fire panel located in the existing building was a conventional type which we upgraded also to a Firenet Panel we designed that panel with convention card to pick up existing field equipment. By completing this we were able to network the two Main Firenet fire Panels allowing the staff in the existing building to see and monitor what was happening in the adjacent building.
The system was given it's own Fire Brigade transponder unit to allow the Fire Service to gain prior knowledge to which building was in alarm.
Firenet panel installed with LCD blue screen, panel is locked
down with system operator keys.

Firenet Mimic panel was provided on the first floor, the mimic allows staff
to view what the fire panel
is displaying with out racing down to the main
fire panel.

Synopsis
Fire Panel: Ampac Addressable FireFinder.
Field Equipment: Ampac Addressable Fire Finder panel, Ampac FastSense smoke
sampling system, Addressable Apollo detectors, Vantage
Sounders in common areas.
The system was design and installed to
give the client an early warning system over a large open space. The challenge
to Fire System Services was the vast amount of and different type of usages
the auditorium is subject to.
An early warning air sampling system was provided for the auditorium
with a remote indicator allowing the venue operators to view what level of
sensitivity
the system is running at before they isolate or de isolate zones.
Addressable smoke and thermal detectors were provided through out the church offices, workshops and amenities.
With minimal training the staff are able to manage the fire detection system quite adequately.
Two addressable fire panels were provided, one located on stage and one located at the main entrance, allowing staff to quickly locate and assess any incidents that may arise during any services.
Ampac
addressable Firefinder fire panel, installed with LCD green screen.

Main Auditorium
Protected by Fastsense Air Sampling System
As you can see the fastsense creates a extremely slim line system, as the sampling points (as seen on the right), sit flush with the ceiling line.
